NYK Logistics (UK) Consumer & Retail Ltd, formerly New Wave Logistics, has rolled out Magicomm’s implementation of a “Proof of Delivery” (POD) solution featuring the Nokia Digital Pen and Anoto Functionality.
A particular requirement for NYK Logistics was the seamless integration of POD data with its existing in-house IT infrastructure. Now POD data takes seconds to update the company’s ‘customer records’, which means that clients receive real-time information. This underlines the commitment and emphasis that NYK place on customer service.
“The Nokia Digital Pen was an instant success with our drivers and has been embraced more warmly than any alternate technology that we have tried to date such as PDAs,” stated Mark Tredgold, Head of IT at NYK Logistics (UK) Consumer & Retail.
He continued: “We consider pen and paper a more natural method for recording PODs. The training involved to use the Digital Pen has proved to be negligible because it is so unbelievably easy to use. The service to our customers has been enhanced. magicomm took the time to understand our requirements and has exactly met the mutually agreed specification; they have also delivered on their promise to provide a robust and reliable service.
“The pilot project seamlessly moved to rollout some weeks ago, we haven’t experienced any problems and will be significantly increasing our ‘pen in use’ numbers into the hundreds. We have also identified a further area within NYK Logistics that will benefit from this technology; we had no hesitation in commissioning magicomm to carry out the work, which is currently underway. There are also definite financial benefits for our customers.”
