Impact has secured this prestigious contract with their local knowledge and reputation. The application will be part of a modernisation program taking place in India, which will be digitising the Criminal Justice System. First Information Reports will be developed by Magicomm UK. The G303 digital pen and Mercury will combine to provide a secure, robust solution.
Impact Systems Pvt Ltd’s CEO, Dhananjay Datar stated “Magicomm UK will develop the applications and support Impact who in turn will implement the solution for the Police department of the city of Mumbai, India. Magicomm’s digital pen and paper solutions will in the first instance to register First Information Reports (FIR) at the police stations with subsequent secure transmission via Mercury. The adoption of such a novel technology will enable the government to simplify and streamline the existing processes.” He continued, “Magicomm’s extensive experience with the UK police has enabled Impact to bag such a prestigious project. Magicomm UK with its expertise and Impact Systems are now partnering for Indian markets and developing software applications in other areas especially since the emergence of India as an aggressive player in the IT space.”
Union Minister for Science and Technology (S&T) and Ocean Development, Kapil Siba,.said “The digital pen and paper technology will be used for capturing the information at police station and for this Mumbai Police and Pune-based Impact Systems Private Limited (partnering with Magicomm Limited based in the UK that will develop the applications) have been chosen as implementing agencies,” Sibal went on, “The Mumbai Police will implement the technology in three phases. In phase I, the technology will be deployed in three police stations in Mumbai’s Gamdevi, Malabar Hill and L.T. Marg. The information created at police stations through Integrated Investigation Forms (IIFs) would be captured through digital pens. “Being in digital format, this would help in proper storage of information and would be tamperproof. Through this, the information can be swiftly retrieved and rapidly transmitted to the senior officers,”
